Fee-only, and only by you
We don’t accept commissions, kickbacks, or third-party compensation. We have no sales goals and no products to sell.
When you work with us, you’re paying for advice based on what’s best for you — and nobody else. Having the right incentives is what lets us give you the best advice we can.
Our Fee Structure
We charge a flat annual fee for our expertise and the work we do, not for the size of your portfolio. A percentage fee grows every year the market does, whether or not anything about your situation changed — here’s why we don’t charge one.
There is no tier above this one. Whether your portfolio is $5 million or $50 million, the fee is the same — it does not keep climbing with your balance.
What that looks like next to a percentage fee
Most advisers charge a percentage of the assets they manage. The table below compares our schedule for a single client against a hypothetical adviser charging 1% of assets annually — a common rate, used here only as an illustration.
| Portfolio | Our fee | As a % | 1% adviser | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $500,000 | $6,600 | 1.32% | $5,000 | $1,600 more |
| $1 million | $6,600 | 0.66% | $10,000 | $3,400 less |
| $2 million | $8,400 | 0.42% | $20,000 | $11,600 less |
| $5 million | $11,100 | 0.22% | $50,000 | $38,900 less |
| $10 million | $11,100 | 0.11% | $100,000 | $88,900 less |
We'd rather you saw the whole picture: below roughly $660,000 for a single client, or $750,000 for a couple, a 1% adviser costs less than we do. Our fee is set by the planning work, so it doesn't shrink with a smaller portfolio. Above those figures the gap moves the other way and keeps widening — because a percentage fee grows every year the market does, and ours doesn't.
Illustration only. Figures assume a single client, our Tier 1–3 schedule, and a flat 1% annual fee on the full portfolio. Advisory fees vary widely; not all advisers charge 1%, and many charge on a sliding scale or add planning fees on top. This is not a comparison to any specific firm and is not a projection of what you would pay elsewhere. Complexity fees, where they apply, are additional under our schedule.
When your situation asks more of us
All amounts below are annual fees, calculated yearly and billed monthly in arrears alongside your subscription. They apply to every client, whether or not we manage your investments.
Estimate your fee
Select what applies to you. This is an estimate — your actual fee is agreed in advance and set out in your advisory agreement.
Estimate only. Fees are negotiable in certain cases and the final agreed fee is set out in your advisory agreement. Fees are billed monthly in arrears.
The annual fee is subject to a 3% inflation rate compounded annually and adjusted every two years. For example, if your initial annual fee is $4,800, the fee will adjust to $5,092 at the start of the third year of service.
Annual Fee available to be paid monthly in arrears. Payment is accepted by check, credit card or deducted from your investment account. The fee is dependent upon variables including the specific needs of the client, complexity, estimated time, research and resources required to provide services to you, among other factors we deem relevant. Fees are negotiable in certain cases and the final agreed upon fee will be outlined in your Advisory Agreement.
